Gingerbread baking

Whaea Shirley made the dough at home and divided it into 17 pieces. We each rolled our dough and cut out a few shapes. Suzi helped us with getting them in and out of the oven. Then we used icing to stick the M & Ms onto them. We ate one biscuit and took the rest home to share. They were delicious!

Wig Wednesday

Everyone worked very hard on their shower-cap wigs... it was a lot of fun and made a lot of mess. We all became very good at tidying up! Whaea Shirley was away for the parade but it all went very well and everyone enjoyed it .The school raised over $700 for the Child Cancer Foundation, which is a great effort. Thanks to all the families for their support.

Anzac Day

In a belated study of Anzac Day, war, and peace; Room 5 students did some excellent thinking and talking, and came up with some great questions about war and its place in history and in the world. Whaea Shirley was very impressed!

Building huts on a rainy day

Even though we didn't know it would rain today, building huts turned out to be a great way to spend our middle block today. We had to work in teams and share our ideas and resources. It was a lot of fun!

Baking fun!

For a special treat, we decided to bake chocolate cupcakes on the last Monday of term. We all read and wrote out the recipe. Whaea Shirley did the shopping for all the ingredients, and then we got to bake. We all took turns measuring, mixing, and spooning the mixture into the cupcake holders. It was exciting, messy and delicious! Ka pai ō koutou mahi, Room 5. You all did a great job!
